- Introduction
Bourdon tube pressure gauges are among the most widely used mechanical devices for measuring pressure in gases, steam, and liquids. Known for their reliability and simplicity, they are designed with a curved, elastic metal tube that responds to changes in internal pressure. These instruments offer a wide measuring range, from vacuum pressures (-1 bar) to very high pressures (up to 1000 bar), and are available in various case sizes and materials to suit different industrial environments and media types.
- Working Principles
They operate on the principle of elastic deformation of a Bourdon tube. When pressure is applied, the Bourdon tube either expands or contracts, and this movement is translated into a pressure indication on the gauge’s scale.
To enhance performance in demanding conditions, some models (especially those with 100 mm and 160 mm cases) can include the Manodamp® axle damping system, which helps absorb shocks and vibration.
- Applications
Bourdon tube gauges are versatile and widely used across numerous industries, including:
Industrial process control (oil & gas, chemical plants)
HVAC systems
Power generation and steam systems
Water treatment facilities
Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Marine and offshore applications
